Ingredients of Teri's Apple Pie
- It's of 6-8 serving.
- It's 1 of Pastry for a double-crust pie (9in).
- Prepare 6 of to 7 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples.
- Prepare 1 tbsp of lemon juice.
- You need 1 cup of sugar.
- You need 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour.
- It's 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.
- Prepare 1 dash of ground nutmeg.
- You need 2 tbsp of butter (cut up into several small pieces).
- Prepare 1 of milk and additional sugar (I like sugar in the raw for this) this will be used on the top crust.
Teri's Apple Pie instructions
- Pre-heat oven at 425°.
- Spray pie dish with cooking spray w/flour in it.
- Line a 9in pie dish with bottom pastry; trim pastry even with edges of the plate. Set aside.
- In lg bowl, toss apples with lemon juice.
- In sm bowl combine the sugar, flour,cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Arrange half the apples in pastry shell; sprinkle half the sugar mix into apples. Repeate with remaining apples and sugar mixture. Dot top of pie filling with butter pieces.
- Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie; place over filling. Trim, deal and flute edges. Cut slits on top. Brush with milk; sprinkle with the additional sugar.
- Cover edges loosely with foil. Bake at 425° for 20 minutes. Remove foil; bake 30-35 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly..
- Cool on wire rack or serve warm.
- If doing a lattice top on pie. I recommend brushing with water (instead of milk) than sprinkle sugar in the raw onto it. After first 20 minutes remove foil and turn temp down to 400°.
